  • Auto Exposure! The brightness of the scene is now automatically adjusted based on...the brightness of the scene

  • Significant improvements to lighting model - the blue haze is no more
  • Vanilla AO is no longer applied to direct lighting
  • Added curl noise to clouds, making their shape much more realistic

Coloured Lighting

2025-03-12_20 23 50 This can be toggled with the new "colored blocklight" option. Note that it is off by default! Held light sources currently do not support coloured lighting and will use the default lighting colour. I hope to get this fixed soon, but am reluctant to implement a solution requiring me to hardcode the colour of every light source.

Godrays

preview There are both screen space and volumetric options - screen space being faster but looking wrong in some situations and not workinng when the sun is offscreen.

Cloud Shadows

image Clouds now cast shadows on the terrain, as well as through fog!

Light scattering in water

image Left is without scattering, right is with scattering.

Parallax

image Adding depth to your blocks and entities with a suitable resource pack.

Improvements

  • Specular highlights should no longer explode at glancing angles
  • Support stellar view shader compatibility mode
  • Improved fog rendering

Fixes

  • Versions of Iris without tag support now work.

Known Issues

  • Artifacting behind water on Intel GPUs.

This is a really bad naming scheme but I won't call it v1.0 until I fix the issues on Intel UHD graphics, in the meantime...

  • Added distant horizons support
  • Added 'infinite ocean' option

  • Improved how water normals are handled at glancing angles
